Worship Time
10:00 Worship
1st Sunday of the month Communion is offered.
Communion is offered every Sunday during the Easter season (Easter Sunday - Pentacost)
Worship is central to the faith community at Christ UMC. We gather for worship on Sunday mornings at 10:00.* The service is liturgical, sacramental, and follows the Pattern of Worship of The United Methodist Church.
The Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion or the Lord's Supper, is celebrated the first Sunday of each month, every week during the Great Fifty Days beginning Easter Sunday thru Pentecost Sunday. Christ invites to his table all persons. All are welcome at the Lord's table.
Blending traditional hymns, new hymns, and contemporary praise songs, music at Christ Church is a central part of our worship together. Song lyrics are projected on a large, digital display screen. The liturgy, including prayers, the Creed, and anything that is to be recited by worshippers, is printed in the bulletin and projected on the screen, as well.
The word "liturgy" means "the work of the people." At Christ UMC, worship involves all who gather participating in worship through singing, praying, responsive readings, and active participation. Worship is work and not something one comes to just watch or enjoy.
Like sacraments, worship at Christ UMC involves multi-sensory worship and not just listening. Through the sacraments of Baptism and Communion, God's grace is conveyed to us. The promises God has made to us the promise of God's love, acceptance, forgiveness, sanctification, and presence with us are remembered as we are more and more convinced. The sacraments are highly emphasized in our times of worship.
Our worship is centered on God. The people do the work directed by the pastor, choir, acolytes, lector, and others. God is the audience for our worship. Our prayer is that each week God might be glorified, delighted, and pleased with how we worship in body, mind, and spirit. Even as God is the audience of our worship, we are unable on our own to worship God in the way God deserves. Thus, we always pray for the Holy Spirit to help us to fill us, inspire us, illuminate our hearts and minds, and to transform us in our worship.
Our sanctuary is a divided chancel that is Table centered and with the pulpit and lectern being two distinct areas. Worship at Christ UMC is focused around the Baptismal Font, the Communion Table, the Pulpit, and the World.
