Advent is the season of preparing for the celebration of Christmas. Christmas is the twelve-day season from the evening of December 24 till January 6 - the Epiphany - the day the Magi brought gifts to Jesus several years after his birth. The true celebration of Christmas is the incarnation of God - or God in human flesh - in Jesus.
The four Sundays of Advent this year are December 3, 10, 17, and 24. December 24 at 10:00 AM, we will gather for worship, as is our custom, and we will celebrate the fourth Sunday of Advent. Even though it is Christmas Eve, this is NOT our Christmas celebration. It is our last-minute Advent preparation. Later that evening, we will celebrate Christmas - that Christ is born! - that God has come to be with us and in us. There are two options - 5PM & 11PM - both of which will include the Gospel of Jesus' birth, Holy Communion, and candle lighting.
